The perfect summer food. Acai is a berry from South America and a well known “superfood.”
But why is it so good for you?
1. It’s packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals which help build your stamina, fight disease and reduce inflammation throughout the body.
2. It contains heart healthy fats-similiar to the amount in olive oil. This is awesome for your skin, especially when you’re exposed to a lot of sun in the summa time.
3. It’s packed with protein. Little berries usually aren’t known for their protein content, but acai berries have about the same amount of amino acids as an egg. (Amino acids are the building blocks to protein.) This means you’ll stay fuller longer.
Where can you buy acai?
Jk, its hard to find the actual fruit but most health food stores or Whole Foods stores will carry the powder or frozen berry packs. In order to make an acai bowl, you just add a tablespoon of the powder into the blender.
So what else is in an acai bowl?
It’s up to you! There’s a million recipes out there, but the base of it is always the acai powder and a frozen banana. (You can obviously still make the recipe without acai in it, but you’ll probz die from lack of nutrients.)
1 Frozen Banana
1 Tbsp. Acai powder
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 cup raspberries
